Our ‘device clinic’ is a comprehensive service for managing patients with pacemakers, defibrillators and loop recorders (also known as ILRs). This is where one of our cardiologists and technicians will check your device to assess the battery life, check the lead integrity, have a look at any events which may cause some trouble to your heart and optimise the devices settings to make sure your device is functioning correctly.

If your device is capable of remote monitoring, we also offer a home monitoring service, where your device is remotely interrogated at set intervals, to ensure that there are no urgent issues that require early follow up.
Usually you will have your device function checked within 4-6 weeks of it being implanted, and then at regular intervals to evaluate correct function. Regular follow-up of your device is very important and your doctor will let you know how often you need to have it checked, in your particular situation. This can vary from 3 to 12 months.
Our clinic staff are committed personalised post-operative care for each patient. They fully understand your condition and implanted devices, providing expert assessment and programming tailored to your needs. We provide you with detailed instructions on how to care for your device, allowing you to return and continue with your normal activities as quickly and safely as possible.
Following each consultation, we provide a report to your general practitioner and your own cardiologist so they are informed of our findings and any changing to the programming of the device.
